| N 27 27.3 W 80 18.3 Faber Cove is about a mile east of downtown Ft Pierce around the south side of Causeway Islnd. Here it is very protected from both wind and current except from the south. We have a great view of the sunsets and it is not too far from city access. We arrived on Saturday, and according to the guide, they have a big farmer's market on Sunday. So the next day we dinghied over to the City Marina and walked about town. The first thing we noticed is that the market is on Saturday. The next thing we noticed is that nothing is open downtown on Sunday except the Tiki Hut at the marina. The third thing we found out is that there's no liquor served on Sunday until 1:00 pm. The folks at the City Marina are very nice and let us tie up several times with no fee or hassle. We even got a part delivered there for us. The other marina, about 2 miles from the anchorage is called Harbortown. They have a restaurant and it's a short walk to West Marine, a Liquor Store and Publix - the three critical stores for us. Nice folks there too and the restaurant is not bad. We have been here a week now trying to get the %^&$# steering fixed. We had to motor most of the way up from Ft Lauderdale - no wind - and by the time we got to the inlet, the steering was incredibly bad. We were afraid we would break something since it takes a big push/pull to move the wheel just a few inches. My biceps are getting a bit of a workout. We contacted the local expert and, while very helpful, had no new opinions or advice. We loosened the chain drive and then found out the stiffness still occurs - so apparently not a mechanical problem. I went back to the relief valve to bleed the system and found when i tried to loosen the check screw, it broke off - probably over-torqued by the Ft Lauderdale folks. So, we ordered the part and installed it. At any rate we are getting a pretty good education in hydraulics.
